I usually don't give a five star rating to anybody unless they have gone "above and beyond the call of duty". However, Dr. Debose is my third dentist in SC and by far the most professional. A previous dentist said I had to have a very small cavity filled in a tooth that was capturing food and hiding it from brushing and flossing. After taking a targeted x-ray, Dr. Debose asked me if I had any pain there, which I didn't, and suggested that I use, every night, DenTek "Easy Brush Cleaners" to push out the hard to get at food, and to put a high fluoride toothpaste on the small cavity. It has been a year since I've been to him, and I have no pain. Today, I go to him to get x-rays to see if the cavity is gone. Dr. Debose said he has seen very small cavities go away using fluoride directly on small starting cavities with other patients of his. Besides this great advice that may save me some money, he takes the time to properly educate his patients to what, why, and how he's going to do what he needs to do in your mouth BEFORE he does it. Good communication and good "bedside manner" is his stock in trade.

8/24/10 Afternoon Update = Dr. Debose's excellent dental hygienist, Jodie, took x-rays, and took extra time to clean some real bad tea stains off my teeth with her cavitron cleaning machine. She also uses the manual hand pick to finish an excellent cleaning job while communicating well every step of the way. Both tools are used every time for all patients which is much better than using just one or the other, in my opinion. Dr. Debose showed me that it kind of appeared on today's x-ray that my cavity got a little bigger. But, he could not get his hand pick tool to confirm the presence of a cavity, even with his 40 years of experience. He said that the x-ray may be deceiving from the exact angle that it was taken. But, since I still had no pain there when he tried to induce pain with the hand pick tool, he suggested I continue using my high fluoride toothpaste and fluoride mouthwash, and let him know if I ever do get the slightest pain there. He said I probably helped the cavity to heal, since "very light shadows" on x-rays can sometimes be misleading. I, and my wife, are thrilled with Dr. Debose and with Jodie.

Dr. DuBose is definitely a fine dentist who puts his patients first. His entire staff is friendly, professional and always has their patients dental health and welfare as foremost importance. He is conservative in his approach and does not create unnecessary procedures especially for the elderly and aged.
